Sexual Desire and Health

Our website Rate Aphrodisiacs.com is a place to post and rate the many aphrodisiacs that are advertised or part of world culture. Often they are herbs and concoctions that raise libido or improve health for better sexual response in men and women. This blog is another venue for that, but I also allow myself to write about other forms of sexual enhancements that are not product oriented.

Sexual desire is a multi-dimensional beast. It has been said by many that our largest sex organ is between our ears, meaning, for one thing, that about anything we think is sexy raises sexual desire. We have all heard of "strange" sexual preferences, perversions and fetishes that exist in people's minds.

Health may not one of the first places we think of when we think of being sexier, although "I want to look great naked" gets close. Libido seems intimately connected with our general health and is something we can feel when our bodies feel strong, supple and young. Exercise can definitely improve our sex life. But the real value is not so much about looking sexy for someone else. The main benefit is feeling fully alive and invigorated. There are no real pills or herbs that can do for us what exercise does.

I do not mean to recommend taking exercise to the point of pain on a regular basis, even if it does get you laid. Pain is not sexy. I am talking about exercise to the point of invigoration. This can be accomplished in many ways, including in the bedroom. Wake up to this great news: research is showing that making love three times a week for a year is considered as health boosting as running 75 miles over the course of that year. This may not replace a minimal health regimen of 3 days a week of raising your heart rate for 30 minutes, but it sounds pretty awesome.

Great health is obviously beneficial to sexual function, but perhaps the best recommendation for exercise is how good you can feel when all your systems are pumping oxygen, blood, lymph, hormones and heightened body awareness. With exercise, the entire body can more completely enjoy being stimulated and prepped for kissing, rubbing, massaging, petting, fingering, stroking, airing, oiling, washing and drying. Exercise does not have to be boring or torturous; it can be jumping, biking, surfing, dancing or swimming. Just get the tingle going and the increased oxygen; but this time, as a pre-foreplay aphrodisiac.
